continually getting [Errno 5] when trying to install Ubuntu
I am trying to load Ubuntu 12.04.2 on my Asus EEE PC 1000 HD. The PC has
no disc drive so I have used tools from pendrivelinux.com to put Ubuntu
12.02.2 LTE onto a thumb drive.
I can successfully run Ubuntu from the thumb drive, and there on the
desktop is the option to "Install Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS". I get through the
preparation stage and the installation starts, then...
as soon as the Installer reaches the "Copying files..." I get a dialogue
pop-up that says:
The installer encountered an error copying files to the hard disk:
[Errno 5] Input/output Error
This is often due to a faulty CD/DVD disk or drive... ...check whether the
hard disk is old and in need of replacement, or to move the system to a
cooler environment.
Googling this Error Message returns a lot of hits, and I have tried a few
of the suggestions with no results. Any hints?
